I have to admit that this looked a lot better in my head.. XD but I'm still happy with how it turned out after spending so much time on it.
I started on it in early July for =madb0y's revamp contest but then lost motivation when I saw that I wouldn't be able to make the deadline. Got interested in it again last week so I decided to try and finish it ^^ There are still some tiny things I want to fix here, but that will have to wait. Critiques
Ahem! Firstly this is a wonderfully lively little emote and to see the predecessors makes it all the more interesting. You have captured here the vibrancy and life of a sport that isn't in the forefront of many peoples minds.
Things I looooved: The colours, nicely done. The actions and sparkles when they really smash it :3. and the 3-D ness, of course. I also liked the perspective, the fact they get smaller as they rotate into the background.
Things to consider: the net rotates rather jerkily and doesn't seem to be moving alone with the players who are smooth and seamless in their actions. However thise could stem form the fact that the players are always moving all over, so the net must slow as it only rotates.
Vision 4.5 stars because you seem to have achieved what you had in mind.
Originality 4 stars because it was a remake of an older Idea (2-3 stars there), but the rotation is a nice factor so 1-2 more for it.
Technique 4.5 stars for making all 4 emotes work together, but the net is so close
Impact 5 stars because I just love how vividly your expressed the Idea

Another cool thing about this animation is the different moves the emoticons perform to hit the ball: Spin while jumping, hit with the head... etc.
Vision, why 4 stars: One thing that i didn't like in the animation above is that the emoticons move so smoothly while the net rotates so slow. I know it may be very hard to sychronise the rotation with the emoticons but i can just critique what i see...
To sum up, it was very smart to make it look like 3D, the emotes are full of life and the volleyball moves are very close to the real moves.
