That's alright, I understand where you're coming from ^^ If I had a choice I would choose for this to not be shown in the popular section, but that's the way the system is built (rated by amount of favs received ) and there's nothing anyone can do about it. I've seen many breath-taking logo designs that aren't even on the first page in the category. But don't worry. Popularity or place in the category means nothing. All entries to the contest will be judged, and they will be judged on skill and creativity, so all logos will be evaluated equally (no matter where the place on the page is).
Contrary to what it might look like, I did spend a lot of time on the logo building it from scratch in Photoshop, and yes I agree that it looks like crap ^^ Still, it was my first try at making a logo and I'm quite proud of what I have achieved. I'm glad I uploaded it to dA because even though I don't have a chance at winning the challenge, I've received many helpful tips and critique I may have use for in the future.
I'm glad you uploaded it also. dA is a wonderful way to receive feedback (my 'feedback' was somewhat of a slap in the face, sorry), and i'd never say to you to not upload it.
I just think the system sucks ass. If your a popular deviant, no matter what you upload people here seem to think its great.
Now I don't think your logo is crap, I can really see where your going with it and think, for a first time logo, its rather good.
But, other people on dA need to try to explore the category. I can see by your comment that your not some egotistic artist who think there work is simply the best. God, you took my comments extremely well. But I can see other users, who may be in the same place as you, who'd get all narky if they didn't in because their logo was so popular and their logo was liked by a majority, so their should be the official logo...
Some people just need to watch what they comment. Saying that you're going to win is rude. Not because I am 100% sure you're not going to win, but rather its getting your hopes up.
There is a logo of theory behind Typography... some commentators don't get it.
you know, if I had a time machine, preventing that from being included in microsoft operating systems is the first thing I would do... I would replace it with something much nicer like orator standard.
